Dear Consultant,

We have a beautiful daughter, 2 years of age and would very much like to have a boy to balance our family. We had enrolled in the Ericson method for Gender Selection, for a total of 3 attempts. The 1st time, I suffered a miscarriage due to a 'missed abortion' and the latter 2 attempts, were unsuccessful. I am completely frustrated due to the dashed hopes and am turning to the Selnas/BabyChoice method for help. The Gynaecologist whom we consulted for the Ericson method, attributed the unsuccessful results primarily due to the low sperm count of my spouse; apparently the Ericson method is quite intensive to the 'sperm' and a high sperm count is required for this programme to succeed. She finally advised that we attempt a simple 'IUI' procedure, where the sperms would not be subjected to any rigorous process, to assist in conception. However, this would only result in a 50 chance of conceiving a baby boy. We were also informed of the Selnas/BabyChoice method and therefore would like to attempt this approach, given its impressive success rate. I am now seeking clarification as to whether the factor leading to the failed attempts during the Ericson method would also pose as a hindrance if we were to emulate the Selnas/BabyChoice method. Hope to receive your answer soon.

Thanks, M.
